AmaWaterways is responding to growing demand for women travelling together with the launch of its first dedicated women-only river cruise, set to sail through southern France in August 2027.
The specially curated Colours of Provence Wine Cruise will depart on 19 August 2027 aboard AmaKristina, offering a seven-night Rhône river journey complemented by optional three-night stays in Barcelona and Paris.
AmaWaterways said the concept was developed following feedback from travel advisors who are seeing increased interest from women seeking hosted holidays with friends and family, as well as solo travellers looking for opportunities to meet like-minded guests.
Wine experiences add a special touch
The departure will feature experiences created specifically for the women-only sailing, including curated wine tastings, a Pink French Martini demonstration, Lavender Gin tasting, Whispering Angel Rosé Sundeck Party and Miraval Champagne breakfast.
Australian winemaker Emmanuelle Bekkers of Bekkers Wine in McLaren Vale will host the cruise.
The sailing will retain AmaWaterways’ regular inclusions, including accommodation, gourmet dining, daily guided shore excursions, wellness experiences, premium wines with lunch and dinner and gratuities.
Advisor demand inspires new sailing
AmaWaterways Managing Director Australia and New Zealand Steve Richards said the concept had come directly from feedback within the travel trade.
“This is one of those ideas that has come directly from our travel advisor community,” Richards said.
“They’ve been telling us they’re seeing more women wanting to travel together, whether that’s lifelong friends, sisters, mothers and daughters, or solo travellers looking to meet new people in a relaxed, welcoming environment.”
Richards said the company was also seeing growth in women choosing to travel independently and on their own terms.
“This cruise gives them the confidence to do that while enjoying everything AmaWaterways is known for, from exceptional dining and immersive excursions to outstanding wines and genuine connection,” he said.
Solo travellers included
The cruise is open to women and those identifying as women, with a limited number of dedicated solo-occupancy staterooms available.
Reservations for the 19 August 2027 departure are now open through travel advisors and AmaWaterways.
