AmaWaterways has revealed AmaMaya, its newest ship for the Mekong River, debuting in January 2027. The 120-guest ship carries 60 staterooms, matching sister ship AmaDara, and features a contemporary interpretation of Indochine design throughout.
AmaMaya will sail AmaWaterways’ seven-night Charms of the Mekong and Riches of the Mekong itineraries through Vietnam and Cambodia.
Catherine Powell, chief executive of AmaWaterways, said the ship’s design was built around the region it sails through.
“With AmaMaya, we wanted to build on that connection by inviting guests onto a ship that is inspired by its surroundings and the rivers it sails. The ship is contemporary and refined, but you can feel the influence of Indochine throughout,” Powell said.
Two dining venues and wellness facilities on board

AmaMaya features two dining venues: the Mekong Restaurant, serving international and local cuisine, and The Chef’s Table, an intimate specialty restaurant with a multi-course tasting menu highlighting Southeast Asian flavours. The ship also includes a fitness room, sun deck pool and three massage rooms, with a dedicated Wellness Host leading fitness and mindfulness activities.
Itineraries include village visits and craft workshops

Charms of the Mekong and Riches of the Mekong both include community-focused experiences such as village walks, school visits, silk-making and rattan workshops, and local markets. In Cambodia, guests can explore Phnom Penh by tuk-tuk, visit the former royal capital of Oudong, and take part in a traditional Buddhist blessing ceremony. In Vietnam, experiences include a trishaw ride through Tan Chau and a sampan excursion through the Mekong Delta’s Tra Su Forest and Sanctuary.
Guests sailing Charms of the Mekong can extend their trip with a three-night Bangkok stay, while Riches of the Mekong offers a choice of a four-night Central Vietnam or three-night Bangkok extension.
