Guests aboard all three Atlas Ocean Voyages expedition yachts have witnessed a total solar eclipse from the waters of Europe and the North Atlantic, bringing more than two years of planning to fruition.
World Traveller, World Navigator and World Voyager were positioned in different locations for the celestial event, giving guests the opportunity to experience the eclipse from the open decks of the line’s intimate expedition yachts.
World Traveller viewed the eclipse off Palma de Mallorca while sailing towards Ibiza, while World Navigator was positioned off Patreksfjörður in Iceland. World Voyager witnessed the spectacle while sailing between Greenland and Iceland.
Two years in the making
Atlas Ocean Voyages began planning its eclipse voyages more than two years ago, positioning each ship to provide guests with an opportunity to witness the astronomical event from the sea.
The experience extended beyond eclipse viewing, with onboard astronomy programming exploring the science and significance of the phenomenon in the lead-up to totality.
Guests were provided with appropriate solar viewing protection, while eclipse-themed cocktails and onboard activities added to the occasion.

“The planning began more than two years ago, when we first envisioned how we could bring our guests to the right place at the right time for this remarkable event.”
Rodriguez said seeing guests gathered on deck across three yachts for the eclipse demonstrated the type of memorable experience the line aims to create through expedition cruising.
More eclipse cruises ahead
Atlas Ocean Voyages is already preparing for its next solar eclipse sailing, with World Traveller scheduled to operate an eight-night Solar Eclipse Expedition from Barcelona to Lisbon departing 27 July 2027.
The voyage will be timed around another total solar eclipse, with an astronomy expert onboard to provide specialist insight and live narration.
Celestial tourism will also feature in the inaugural season of Atlas Adventurer, which is scheduled to debut in 2028 as the line’s first Atlas-class yacht and luxury expedition sailing yacht.
Its 14-night Jewels of Southeast Asia voyage will depart Bangkok for Bali on 23 December 2028, with the ship scheduled to be in Singapore for a total lunar eclipse. The event is expected shortly after midnight as guests welcome 2029.
The new ship will join Atlas Ocean Voyages’ existing World-class fleet of World Navigator, World Traveller and World Voyager.
