Aurora Expeditions is opening its small-ship voyages to a new generation of explorers, welcoming children aged six and over aboard its expedition cruises for the first time.
The Australian-owned expedition cruise operator says the move will allow more families to experience some of the world’s most remote destinations together while inspiring younger travellers through hands-on learning and exploration.
Katie Malone, Chief Marketing Officer at Aurora Expeditions, said the experiences offered children opportunities to develop curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
“Some of life’s most meaningful lessons are learned when we step outside the classroom and experience the world for ourselves,” Malone said.
“A child may read about a whale, a glacier or a remote community in a textbook, but seeing and experiencing these places can create a much deeper sense of curiosity, understanding and responsibility.”
Expedition travel for families

Children will be able to join voyages across Aurora’s purpose-built expedition fleet, taking part in Zodiac excursions, wildlife encounters, cultural experiences and educational activities led by the cruise line’s expert Expedition Team.
The company said its intimate ships provide an ideal environment for multi-generational travel, allowing families to share immersive experiences in destinations ranging from the polar regions to remote coastlines around the world.
Savings for young explorers

To encourage more families to experience expedition cruising, Aurora Expeditions is offering children aged six to 15 savings of up to 50 per cent off the Best Available Fare on eligible voyages.
The offer aims to make expedition travel more accessible while encouraging families to discover wildlife, landscapes and cultures together through responsible exploration.
