Carnival Cruise Line has donated hospitality equipment to support tourism operators in Vanuatu’s outer islands, reinforcing its commitment to local communities during a visit by Carnival Adventure to Port Vila.
The donation, presented during a handover ceremony on 10 July, will assist bungalow, guesthouse and homestay operators preparing to welcome visitors in Torba Province later this year.
Donation to benefit remote tourism businesses
The cruise line donated 600 drinking glasses and 1,500 plates and bowls, with a further 300 tables to be delivered the following day.
The items will be distributed to tourism operators on Rah and Motalava islands, where many small businesses have faced economic challenges over the past two years.
Vanuatu Department of Tourism Director Paul Pio accepted the donation on behalf of the recipients.
“We truly appreciate Carnival’s continued partnership and commitment to the growth of Vanuatu’s tourism industry. This gesture will make a tangible difference to the small business owners in our remote provinces,” he said.
Supporting local communities
Carnival Cruise Line Vice President External Affairs Sandy Olsen said the cruise line was pleased to support a destination that remains popular with its guests.
“We thank the Department of Tourism for ensuring this tableware reaches tourism operators who need it most. Vanuatu is a much-loved destination for our guests and an important part of our South Pacific itineraries,” she said.
The handover was also attended by Vanuatu Ministry of Trade and Commerce Director General Noah Patrick Kouback, who presented Carnival Adventure Captain Francesco Bencivenga with a plaque recognising the cruise line’s ongoing contribution to Vanuatu’s tourism industry.
Preparing for Public Service Day
The donated equipment will help tourism operators prepare for Vanuatu’s Public Service Day celebrations, which are expected to be held in Torba Province in October 2026.
Vice-Chairlady of the Public Service Day 2026 organising committee Lopanga Yerta Ores said the donation would assist host communities as they prepare to welcome visitors to Rah and Motalava islands.
