Heritage Expeditions has revealed the maiden 2027-28 season for its new 130-guest expedition ship, Heritage Discoverer, during a sold-out roadshow across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Heritage Discoverer, formerly Silver Explorer, will preview in November before its inaugural voyage in May 2027. It becomes the third vessel in Heritage Expeditions’ fleet, joining the 140-guest flagship Heritage Adventurer and the 18-guest expedition yacht Heritage Explorer.
The roadshow, led by commercial director and expedition leader Aaron Russ, gave Australian travel agents and media a preview of seven new itineraries covering Svalbard, Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic coast, British Isles, Faroe Islands, Scotland and Ireland, along with the line’s return to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, the Falkland Islands and South Shetland Islands.
Also attending were head of global sales Robert Halfpenny, sales manager Australia Chris le Roux, marketing manager Isaac Wilson and kayaking program manager Toby Story.
Russ said the ship extended the range of destinations available for agents to sell.
“With exciting new itineraries exploring Europe and the Arctic, alongside our return to the Antarctic Peninsula, Heritage Discoverer offers an incredible range of authentic, new expedition experiences for agents to sell and travellers to discover,” Russ said.
Family-owned operator expands fleet
Heritage Expeditions describes itself as Australasia’s only family-owned and operated expedition cruise company, run by the Russ family since its founding more than 40 years ago. The line has previously focused on the Subantarctic Islands, Ross Sea and New Zealand’s remote coastlines, alongside expeditions to Kimberley, Indonesia, Melanesia and the High Arctic.
