Heritage Expeditions has unveiled the maiden 2027–2028 season for its newest expedition ship, Heritage Discoverer, introducing seven new itineraries spanning Europe, the High Arctic and Antarctica.
The New Zealand-owned expedition cruise company said the launch marks a significant milestone as it expands its global expedition program while returning to some of its signature polar destinations.
New ship, new destinations
Formerly known as Silver Explorer, Heritage Discoverer will make her debut with voyages along the Atlantic coast of Europe before heading north to Iceland, Greenland and Svalbard, and later south for Antarctic expeditions.
New itineraries include cruises exploring Portugal, Spain, France, the British Isles, the Faroe Islands and Iceland, alongside the return of the company’s High Arctic and Antarctic Peninsula voyages.
Heritage Expeditions Directors Aaron and Nathan Russ described the launch as the beginning of a new chapter for the family-owned operator.
“This is the beginning of a new era, and the arrival of a truly global expedition cruise offering for Heritage Expeditions and our guests,” Nathan Russ said.
Aaron Russ added: “Today sees an exciting evolution of Heritage Expeditions as we chart a new course, while continuing our legacy of authentic, responsible small ship expedition travel to some of the wildest, least explored and biologically rich regions on the planet.”
Global expedition program
Highlights of the inaugural season include the 12-day Atlantic Shores Odyssey from Lisbon to Portsmouth, a British Isles expedition, an Iceland circumnavigation, a 15-day High Arctic voyage through Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland, plus Antarctic Peninsula and South Georgia expeditions.
The itineraries combine wildlife encounters with visits to UNESCO World Heritage sites, historic landmarks, remote islands and renowned European wine regions.
Launch offer available
To celebrate the release of the maiden season, Heritage Expeditions is offering savings of 20 per cent on all berths, with returning guests eligible for an additional 10 per cent discount on new bookings made by 31 August 2026.
The 108-metre Heritage Discoverer accommodates a maximum of 130 guests and features 70 ocean-view staterooms and suites, 14 Zodiacs, an expedition team of 15, multiple lounges, dining venues and an open bridge policy.
