Pearl Expeditions General Manager Mick Fogg has been appointed Chair of the Kimberley Marine Tourism Association (KMTA), recognising his leadership, industry experience and longstanding commitment to sustainable marine tourism in the Kimberley.
The appointment sees Fogg lead the body representing more than 30 licensed commercial marine tourism operators working along one of Australia’s most ecologically significant coastlines.
KMTA members range from large expedition cruise vessels to boutique charter operators, with the association serving as a collective voice for an industry focused on the sustainable management and long-term future of the Kimberley region.
Fogg said he looks forward to strengthening collaboration across the sector.
‘I’m excited to take on the Chair role at a time when there’s so much happening across the Kimberley,’ he said.
‘The KMTA has always been an important connector for our industry, and I’m looking forward to building on that — bringing together operators of all sizes and continuing to strengthen the relationships we have with Traditional Owners, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, Tourism Western Australia and the wider industry community.’
Extensive expedition and sustainability background
As General Manager and Head of Sustainability at Pearl Expeditions, Fogg oversees itinerary design, destination development, community partnerships and conservation initiatives across remote regions including the Kimberley, Papua New Guinea, Raja Ampat and Borneo.
He previously held roles with Coral Expeditions, Silversea, Orion and Ponant, bringing experience across both large expedition vessels and boutique operations.
An honours graduate in Marine Biology from James Cook University, Fogg has more than two decades’ experience in expedition travel across Australia, Antarctica and Southeast Asia. His work includes long-term engagement with Traditional Owners, remote communities and conservation partners.
KMTA works collaboratively with Traditional Owners, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, Tourism Western Australia and other stakeholders to support responsible tourism practices and ensure industry representation in regional decision-making.
