Princess Cruises has revealed its most extensive Japan deployment to date, with a landmark 2027 season featuring two Japanese-built sister ships – Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess – sailing from the Tokyo region between March and December.
This milestone program includes 78 departures and 50 unique itineraries ranging from seven to 28 days, taking travellers on immersive journeys through Japan and neighbouring regions. Bookings open 20 August 2025, with early offers available until 27 August.
A cultural homecoming for Princess Cruises

“Our story in Japan has deepened over time and experience, and in 2027, we return promising unforgettable experiences, including the renowned Cherry Blossoms, seven spectacular festivals and journeys that immerse you in the awe and wonder of this destination.”
Both Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess – built in Nagasaki – will operate the season, taking in 45 destinations across six countries.
Highlights of the 2027 program
Key itineraries include:
- Cherry Blossom Voyages (9–24 days): Timed to follow peak blooms across all four main islands.
- Festival Cruises (8–24 days): Celebrate Japan’s most iconic summer festivals with late-night port stays.
- Circle and Grand Japan Voyages (9–28 days): Explore the country from Osaka to Nagasaki.
- Okinawa & Taiwan Itineraries (9–18 days): Discover Okinawa and the cultural gems of Taiwan.
- Japan Explorer Cruises (9–13 days): Visit cities such as Shimizu, Kobe and Kagoshima.
Travellers can experience seven traditional Japanese festivals including Aomori Nebuta, Kochi Yosakoi and the Tokushima Awa Odori Dance Festival, alongside 12 late-night port calls in cities such as Osaka, Hiroshima and Sakata.
UNESCO sites, scenic sailings and onboard experiences
The season will offer access to 21 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Mount Fuji, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Kyoto’s ancient monuments. Guests will also enjoy scenic sailings through Shimizu Bay, the Kanmon Straits and Kagoshima Bay.
Onboard, Japanese cultural touches will enhance the journey with traditional cuisine, sake tastings, rakugo performances and folkloric entertainment.
