Murray River Paddlesteamers has waived solo supplements on selected three-night cruises aboard the historic PS Emmylou following a rise in demand from solo travellers.
The limited-time offer applies to selected departures until 31 August 2026, with solo guests also receiving the same $400 per person discount available to couples.
Solo travel driving demand

Based in Echuca, Victoria, Murray River Paddlesteamers says solo travellers – predominantly women – are increasingly choosing the boutique paddlewheeler for its relaxed atmosphere, intimate size and opportunities to connect with fellow guests.
Murray River Paddlesteamers Director Craig Burgess said the 16-guest vessel offered the ideal balance of independence and companionship.
“Our enchanting little riverboat, Emmylou, only carries 16 guests in all-inclusive comfort so it’s perfect for solo travellers seeking precious time away on their own,” he said.
“But what we find is most solo travellers also enjoy the company of other like-minded guests onboard. They might be lone travellers but they’re never lonely on Emmylou where everyone becomes friends on the river.”
Historic paddlewheeler experience
Powered by an original 1906 steam engine, PS Emmylou is well known as the vessel featured in the television mini-series All the Rivers Run.
The three-night cruises depart every Saturday from Echuca and include all meals, guided shore excursions to wineries, heritage sites and wildlife attractions, selected beer and wine with dinner, and a campfire dinner on the riverbank under the stars.
Savings until the end of winter
Under the promotion, solo travellers can book selected cabins from $1,700 per person – the same fare available to couples after the $400 saving.
The fare also includes complimentary return rail travel between Melbourne and Echuca or free undercover parking in Echuca for guests travelling by car. The offer is available on selected departures until 31 August 2026 and is subject to availability.
