Terra Nova Expeditions has secured Terra Nova Adventurer, formerly known as MS Expedition and G Expedition, to operate its Antarctic seasons after St Helena could not reposition from the Persian Gulf in time for the 2026/27 season due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
Note: the release states in its opening that the vessel will operate the 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons, but later states it will remain with the company through the 2028/29 season. Agents should confirm the exact season range directly with Terra Nova Expeditions.
Greg Carter, founder and chief executive of Terra Nova Expeditions, said the change followed months of work to secure an alternative vessel.
“Securing Terra Nova Adventurer for not just one, but three Antarctic seasons gives us the opportunity to turn an unexpected challenge into an exciting new chapter for Terra Nova,” Carter said.
Vessel brings established polar credentials
Terra Nova Adventurer has an extensive history of expedition cruising in Antarctica, the Arctic and other remote waters under its previous names. Its design includes enhanced ice capability, a large expedition mudroom and direct Zodiac boarding, along with a lounge, library, spa and gym.
Ahead of its first season with the company, the ship will undergo a refurbishment including new soft furnishings and décor, remodelled bar and lounge areas, and the addition of a Jacuzzi and sauna on Deck 5.
Itineraries proceed as planned
Terra Nova Expeditions confirmed its Antarctic itineraries and expedition program will continue as planned aboard the new vessel. Guests whose bookings require changes as a result of the vessel transition are being contacted directly and reviewed individually.
Carter said the operator’s focus throughout the transition had been protecting guests’ Antarctic journeys. “The vessel may be changing, but the reason people travel with us is not. Antarctica, the expedition experience and the team behind it remain at the heart of what we do,” Carter said.
