Viking has opened bookings for its 2028–2029 ocean program, unveiling more than 700 departure dates across 80 voyages spanning 301 ports in 84 countries and six continents.
The deployment is the largest ocean program in the company’s history and includes two new itineraries, additional Japan sailings and the arrival of two new ocean ships, Viking Vega and Viking Leda.
“With our largest ocean deployment to date, we are pleased to offer guests even more opportunities to explore the world in Viking comfort,” said Leah Talactac, President and Chief Executive Officer of Viking.
“From new itineraries to our two newest ocean ships, this deployment reflects our continued commitment to providing destination-focused voyages for curious travellers.”
New Alaska and Mediterranean itineraries

Among the new additions is the 15-day Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage itinerary, sailing between Vancouver and Whittier.
The voyage will combine scenic cruising through Alaska’s fjords and Inside Passage with opportunities to kayak, hike and look for wildlife including whales, bears and eagles. Cultural experiences will also introduce guests to Tlingit traditions and connections to the region.
A new 16-day Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa voyage will operate roundtrip from Rome, visiting Valletta, North Africa, Andalusia, Provence and Corsica.
Viking is also adding more departures of its 15-day Japan Discovery itinerary, which sails roundtrip from Tokyo and includes Niigata, Hakata, Sapporo and an overnight stay in Shimizu, along with time in South Korea.
Global program spans six continents

The wider 2028–2029 deployment covers the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the Caribbean, South America and the Panama Canal.
Voyages range from eight-day itineraries through to extended World Voyages, with many sailings designed to be combined for longer journeys.
Viking Vega and Viking Leda join the fleet

Viking Vega is scheduled for delivery in 2028, followed by Viking Leda in 2029.
Both ships will accommodate 998 guests across 499 all-verandah staterooms and measure approximately 54,300 gross tonnes.
The vessels will continue Viking’s Scandinavian design approach, with light-filled public areas, outdoor dining spaces and a small-ship format consistent with the rest of its ocean fleet.
