Virgin Voyages launches first Scandinavia and Baltics cruises for 2028

Virgin Voyages is expanding into Northern Europe for the first time, unveiling its inaugural Scandinavia and Baltics season for summer 2028 aboard Valiant Lady. The new deployment marks the cruise line’s biggest European program to date and introduces six brand-new itineraries departing from Amsterdam.

Bookings open on 14 August 2026, with loyalty Sailors and First Mates receiving early access from 13 August.

John Lovell, Board Member and Senior Advisor at Virgin Voyages, said the new season represented genuine expansion rather than simply repositioning existing itineraries.

“This isn’t that. Every voyage in this season has a new destination, and it’s new to your client too.”

Arctic Circle crossing headlines the season

The 2028 Northern Europe program features four core itineraries, framed by two one-way voyages between Barcelona and Amsterdam.

Highlights include an overnight stay in Stockholm, Norwegian fjord sailings, late departures from Copenhagen and Hamburg, and an 11-night Arctic Circle and Norwegian Fjords itinerary featuring an onboard Arctic Circle crossing ceremony and midnight sun deck party beneath 24-hour daylight.

Other itineraries visit destinations including Oslo, Bergen, Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Trondheim, Flåm, Lisbon, Tangier and Cherbourg.

Mediterranean season also expands

Alongside its Northern Europe debut, Virgin Voyages is increasing its Mediterranean offering, with Scarlet Lady sailing from Athens and Valiant Lady from Barcelona.

The expanded program includes four maiden ports for the brand — Venice, Koper, Ravenna and Portofino/Santa Margherita — across 38 Mediterranean voyages, comprising 29 week-long sailings and nine longer itineraries of eight nights or more.

The combined Northern Europe and Mediterranean deployment represents Virgin Voyages’ largest European season yet, growing capacity by 41 per cent compared with 2026 and 16 per cent over its 2027 European program.
