Windstar Cruises will significantly expand its presence in French Polynesia, deploying two yachts to operate year-round in Tahiti from March 2027 — the line’s largest South Pacific deployment to date.
Expansion coincides with new Sydney–Papeete flights

The move aligns with Air Tahiti Nui’s announcement of a new direct Sydney–Papeete service launching in December 2026, improving access for Australian travellers to the region.
From March 2027, the 312-guest all-suite motor yacht Star Breeze will join the 148-guest sailing yacht Wind Star in Tahiti, creating the most extensive year-round small-ship cruise programme in French Polynesia.
Two ships, expanded itineraries

Wind Star will continue operating the cruise line’s signature seven-night Dreams of Tahiti itinerary, with lead-in fares from AUD $4,616 per person for the 1 November 2027 departure.
Meanwhile, Star Breeze will expand the offering beyond the Society Islands with longer voyages exploring destinations including the Tuamotus and Marquesas, as well as select South Pacific sailings incorporating Fiji.
One of the featured itineraries is the 11-night Far Flung French Polynesia & Marquesas Magic voyage, with lead-in fares from AUD $7,307 per person for the 3 October 2027 departure.
Immersive experiences across French Polynesia

Windstar’s programme focuses heavily on cultural immersion, including its Destination Discovery Event in Bora Bora, where guests are transported to a private motu for an evening of Tahitian fire dancing, music and regional cuisine.
Shore excursions include lagoon snorkelling, visits to vanilla plantations and pearl farms, while the yachts’ signature marina platforms provide direct ocean access for kayaking, paddleboarding and swimming in remote anchorages such as Bora Bora and Moorea.
With two ships operating year-round and more itineraries than any other cruise line in the region, Windstar aims to deepen its presence across French Polynesia and neighbouring South Pacific destinations including the Cook Islands.
