Windstar opens 2028 Tahiti sailings as demand surges

Windstar Cruises has opened bookings for its 2028 French Polynesia season, responding to growing demand from travellers seeking alternatives to traditional European destinations.

The programme will feature sailings aboard Star Breeze and Wind Star, offering a mix of motor yacht and sailing yacht experiences across the South Pacific, including Tahiti, the Tuamotus, the Marquesas, the Cook Islands and Fiji.

Small-ship cruising drives deeper destination access

Windstar’s expansion builds on nearly four decades of operations in the region, with its small-ship model enabling access to remote islands, secluded lagoons and lesser-visited destinations.

The 2028 season will include 14 itineraries and 109 departures, ranging from seven to 14 nights, with options to combine voyages into extended “Star Collector” journeys.

Cultural immersion central to onboard experience

A key differentiator of Windstar’s Tahiti programme is its focus on cultural immersion. Guests can engage with local ambassadors through activities such as ukulele lessons, Tahitian language classes and traditional storytelling.

Signature experiences include the Fire & Story event in Bora Bora, featuring Polynesian cuisine, music and fire-dance performances on a private island setting.

Early booking offer targets forward planners

To capitalise on strong forward demand, Windstar is offering a limited-time Early Booking Offer available until 31 May 2026, providing access to preferred sailings, staterooms and pricing.

Additional incentives include a five per cent discount for guests who pay in full at the time of booking.

The move reflects a broader trend of travellers planning bucket-list experiences years in advance, particularly in high-demand destinations such as French Polynesia.
