Japan’s Mitsui Ocean Cruises will make its first visit to Australia in February 2027, with Mitsui Ocean Fuji calling at Cairns as part of a new 46-night Circle Pacific voyage.
The 458-guest, all-suite ship, formerly Seabourn Odyssey, will arrive in Cairns on 14 February 2027 for an extended overnight stay during its round-trip voyage from Yokohama.
Australian small-ship cruise specialist Cruise Traveller, Mitsui Ocean Cruises’ exclusive Australian representative, has released four sectors of the voyage for the local market, along with reduced fares.
Circle Pacific opens to Australian travellers
The Circle Pacific itinerary will connect Japan with destinations across the South Pacific, including Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu and Tahiti.
More remote calls include the Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and the Federated States of Micronesia.
Cruise Traveller has released four options for Australian travellers:
- 25 nights from Japan to Tahiti, departing 3 February 2027
- 21 nights from Tahiti to Japan, departing 28 February 2027
- 34 nights from Cairns to Japan via Tahiti, departing 15 February 2027
- 46 nights round-trip from Yokohama, departing 3 February 2027.
Japanese hospitality at sea
Mitsui Ocean Fuji carries 458 guests and offers ocean views from every suite, with 90 per cent of accommodation featuring a private balcony.
Onboard facilities include restaurants specialising in Japanese cuisine, lounges, a theatre, wellness centre, swimming pool and jacuzzis.
Cruise Traveller Managing Director Joe O’Sullivan said the experience combined small-ship cruising with the Japanese tradition of “omotenashi” hospitality.

Special fares released for Australia
Australian fares include selected onboard beverages, gratuities and Wi-Fi.
Twin-share fares in ocean-view suites start from A$16,210 per person for the 21-night Tahiti to Japan sector and A$19,300 per person for the 25-night Japan to Tahiti voyage.
The 34-night Cairns to Japan itinerary starts from A$26,240 per person, while the complete 46-night Circle Pacific voyage starts from A$44,370 per person, twin-share.
