Cairns-based reef operator Passions of Paradise is expanding into the international luxury travel market, officially launching its private charter vessel Allure to overseas buyers at the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) 2026 in Adelaide.
Boutique reef experience targets luxury travellers

The family-owned tourism business is positioning Allure as a premium Great Barrier Reef experience aimed at high-end international travellers, particularly from North and South America.
The 14-metre Riviera Cruiser caters for up to eight guests on day charters or four overnight passengers, offering diving, snorkelling and fishing experiences in a more intimate setting.
Great Barrier Reef access key selling point

Passions of Paradise Chief Executive Officer Scotty Garden said Allure’s long-distance roving permit allows access to remote reef locations beyond the reach of many operators.
“Allure is perfect for the high-end luxury market wanting a private vessel with a personalised crew to explore the Great Barrier Reef at their leisure,” Garden said.
“Families and honeymooners are among the market segments Allure appeals to as they enjoy the personalised attention of our crew without the formality favoured by larger charter vessels.”
Growing demand for bespoke touring

The vessel has been operating charter experiences for the past two years, with the company reporting strong demand from domestic travellers, government agencies and universities.
Garden said increasing international interest signalled the right time to formally launch the product to Western markets.
“We have been testing the North American market and found strong interest with key inbound operators wanting to make bookings,” he said.
The expansion reflects broader growth in demand for boutique and experience-led tourism products across Tropical North Queensland.
Investment signals confidence in region

Passions of Paradise acquired Allure during the later stages of the pandemic as part of a strategy to diversify into smaller-scale luxury experiences.
The company said the move demonstrates confidence in the long-term strength of the Tropical North Queensland tourism sector.
At the same time, the company’s flagship catamaran is undergoing a major annual refit, including a new engine, mast, sails and interior upgrades ahead of returning to service on 18 May.
Reef operator celebrates 37 years

Passions of Paradise has operated Great Barrier Reef experiences for 37 years and says it contributes more than $500,000 annually to the regional economy through local suppliers and services.
The company also continues to promote reef conservation and environmental awareness as part of its tourism operations.
