Royal Caribbean has revealed Hero of the Seas, the fourth ship in its Icon Class, set to debut in Miami in August 2027.
Designed as the next evolution in family holidays, the new vessel promises an expanded mix of adventure, relaxation and immersive experiences tailored to multigenerational travel.
Building on the success of the Icon Class, the ship will feature eight distinct neighbourhoods, combining resort-style escapes with theme park-style thrills.
More pools, more thrills at sea
Hero of the Seas will introduce nine pools alongside a range of new and enhanced water-based experiences. Highlights include Coconut Cove, a Caribbean-inspired pool area, and an expanded adults-only Hideaway featuring the largest swim-up bar at sea and an in-water DJ.
Adventure offerings will also be elevated, with new family raft slides debuting at Category 6 waterpark, alongside returning favourites such as the Crown’s Edge skywalk and zip line experience, FlowRider surf simulator and a range of sports courts.
Dining reaches new heights with 28 venues
The ship will feature 28 dining venues, offering a diverse mix of global cuisines and immersive concepts. Among the new additions is the Orleans Parish Supper Club, blending live jazz with Cajun and Creole dining, and Royal Railway – Hero Station, an interactive dining experience combining storytelling, technology and cuisine.
Family-friendly experiences will also extend to hands-on cooking classes, while returning venues such as Izumi, Chops Grille and Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen will anchor the culinary line-up.
New accommodation concepts for families
Accommodation has been designed with families in mind, led by the Ultimate Family Treehouse — a three-level suite featuring a rooftop terrace, private whirlpool and dedicated spaces for children and teens.
Additional options include the Ultimate Family Townhouse with direct access to family zones, as well as a range of suites and balcony staterooms catering to different travel styles and group sizes.
Caribbean itineraries from Miami
Hero of the Seas will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami, with all voyages visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. Ports of call include destinations such as Cozumel, Roatan, St. Maarten and St. Thomas.
The launch reinforces Royal Caribbean’s continued focus on innovation in the family cruise segment, combining high-energy attractions with flexible accommodation and dining options.
