Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has officially welcomed the first guests aboard its newest ship, Norwegian Luna, marking the start of the vessel’s inaugural transatlantic journey ahead of its Caribbean debut later this month.
The next-generation ship embarked on its maiden voyage from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy on 10 March 2026, giving travellers an early glimpse of the vessel’s contemporary design and onboard experiences before arriving in Miami on 23 March 2026.
First look at Norwegian Luna’s next-generation design
NCL has also released the first official architectural images and videos of Norwegian Luna, showcasing the ship’s bold design and modern spaces created to enhance flexibility and ease for guests.
The ship features expansive outdoor areas designed to connect guests more closely with the ocean, alongside intimate spaces intended for relaxation, socialising and entertainment.
Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, said the vessel represents the essence of the brand’s contemporary cruising experience.
“Norwegian Luna is an absolutely beautiful ship and the true definition of what it means to cruise with NCL,” Kazlauskas said.
“Guests will enjoy wide-open outdoor spaces that bring them closer to the sea, intimate areas to retreat to and electrifying entertainment alongside mouthwatering cuisine.
“Norwegian Luna gives guests the freedom to holiday their way and reconnect with those who matter most while creating memorable moments along the way.”
Caribbean season to begin after Miami christening
Following her arrival in Miami – widely regarded as the Cruise Capital of the World – Norwegian Luna will be officially christened on 27 March 2026.
The ship will then begin a schedule of Caribbean sailings including:
- Three- and four-day Bahamas cruises
- Seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries
These voyages will feature visits to beach destinations across the region, including NCL’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas, and Harvest Caye in Belize.
From November 2026, Norwegian Luna will transition to Western Caribbean itineraries calling at:
- Roatán (Islas de la Bahía), Honduras
- Cozumel, Mexico
- Harvest Caye, Belize
New York deployment planned for 2027
The ship will further expand its deployment in 2027, when Norwegian Luna becomes the newest contemporary cruise ship sailing from New York City.
From 6 April 2027, the vessel will operate four- to seven-day Bermuda itineraries featuring overnight stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
The deployment will position Norwegian Luna as a key ship in NCL’s growing global fleet, which now includes 20 vessels sailing to nearly 350 destinations worldwide.
