Carnival Cruise Line has announced major enhancements to its upcoming Carnival Rewards™ loyalty program, offering significant benefits for current Diamond and Platinum members of the existing Very Important Fun Person (VIFP) Club ahead of the new scheme’s launch on 1 June 2026.
The cruise line confirmed that guests who attain Diamond or Platinum status before the cut-off date of 31 May 2026 will receive exclusive long-term advantages in the transition to Carnival Rewards™, the industry’s first cruise loyalty program designed to mirror popular airline and hotel reward models.
President of Carnival Cruise Line Christine Duffy said the changes are the result of guest feedback and are aimed at recognising long-term loyalty with meaningful, lasting rewards.
“We’ve spent the summer talking with our guests, listening to their comments and taking in their feedback,” Duffy said.
“We believe these enhancements recognise our appreciation for the loyalty of our top-tier guests.”
Lifetime loyalty for Diamond guests
Guests who reach Diamond status in the current VIFP Club by 31 May 2026 will be automatically granted lifetime Diamond status in the new Carnival Rewards program. This replaces the previously announced status extension to 2032 and provides a permanent recognition of loyalty within the cruise line’s highest reward tier.
Platinum guests receive biennial ‘boost’ and head start
Platinum-level guests will also benefit, receiving a 10,000-star “head start” in Carnival Rewards at the start of every two-year earning cycle — beginning 1 June 2026. This equates to a 20 per cent boost towards requalifying for Platinum and even advancing towards Diamond status in the future. Carnival has confirmed that this will also guarantee a minimum of Gold status in all subsequent loyalty cycles under the new program.
Extending benefits to families and international travellers
In a move welcomed by families, Carnival confirmed that minors under 18 will inherit the loyalty status of their designated parent or responsible adult for the duration of their sailing. Upon turning 18, any minor who has earned Platinum or Diamond status by 31 May 2026 will be invited to opt in to Carnival Rewards and retain their tier level.
The cruise line also confirmed it is actively exploring similar reward structures for Canadian and Australian guests, following the U.S. launch of the Carnival Rewards Mastercard — which will enable users to earn status and rewards through everyday spending.
A first for the cruise sector
When it launches in mid-2026, Carnival Rewards™ will be the first program of its kind in the cruise industry to integrate loyalty benefits from both onboard experiences and consumer spending. Points will be convertible into reward dollars that can be used towards cruise fares, shore excursions, onboard dining and other vacation enhancements — delivering a more flexible and holistic loyalty offering.
