Coral Expeditions and Australian Geographic have expanded their long-running partnership with the launch of two dedicated photography-focused Kimberley expeditions for 2027, targeting travellers seeking to combine nature exploration with photographic storytelling.
The new A Lens on Nature: The Kimberley departures will offer guests the opportunity to explore one of Australia’s most remote and visually striking regions alongside professional photographers and wildlife experts.
Photography takes centre stage in the Kimberley
Operating aboard the 60-guest Coral Discoverer, the all-inclusive eight-night voyages will depart roundtrip from Broome on 30 July 2027 and 27 August 2027.
Designed for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers, the itineraries will focus on capturing the Kimberley’s landscapes, wildlife and coastal environments while providing guests with practical guidance and photography workshops throughout the journey.
Coral Expeditions’ expedition team will be joined by Australian Geographic photographers and wildlife specialists, offering expert insight both onboard and ashore.
Small-ship access supports immersive experiences
The voyages have been developed to take advantage of Coral Discoverer’s small-ship capabilities, providing access to remote areas of the Kimberley that are difficult to reach by larger vessels.
Guests will participate in daily excursions designed to encourage closer observation of the region’s biodiversity, habitats and geological features while developing their photographic skills.
Coral Expeditions Chief Commercial Officer Jeff Gillies said the new departures bring together two organisations with a shared focus on education, conservation and immersive travel experiences.
“These new Kimberley departures bring together two deeply aligned brands with a shared belief in the power of immersive nature experiences to inspire curiosity, creativity and care for the environment,” he said.
Partnership expands beyond expedition cruising
The voyages build on a collaboration between Coral Expeditions and Australian Geographic that has been in place since 2018 and includes support for the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition and contributions to conservation initiatives.
Australian Geographic Head of Brand Rebel Haslingden said photography can play an important role in helping travellers connect more deeply with the natural environment.
“Photography has a unique ability to sharpen observation and foster a deeper connection to place,” she said.
Fares for the new voyages start from $9,400 per person, with guest numbers capped at 60 to maintain an intimate expedition experience.
