Australian travellers are cruising in record numbers, with growing demand for value, convenience and multi-generational travel experiences driving bookings across the sector. In response, Cruises by Inspiring Vacations has expanded its popular Sail and Save events for Cruise Month 2025, delivering exclusive cruise deals and face-to-face access to leading cruise line representatives.
More than 1.32 million Australians cruised in 2024 – nearly matching the all-time high of 1.35 million in 2018 – with one in every 20 Australians taking to the water in the past year. To meet this growing interest, Cruises by Inspiring Vacations will host free events across Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne throughout October and November.
A shift in who cruises – and why
The face of the Australian cruiser is changing. According to Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), one third of local cruisers were under 40 in 2024, with the average passenger age dropping to 48.4 years – down from 50.4 in 2019. Younger travellers, families and solo adventurers are embracing the ease and flexibility of cruising.
