Fiji’s marine tourism sector is continuing its strong growth, with the destination recording its highest economic contribution from international yachting visitors in more than 16 years while expanding its luxury charter and cruise offerings.
New figures released by Tourism Fiji show the yachting industry contributed a record FJ$57.4 million (approximately A$37 million) to Fiji’s economy in 2025, highlighting the growing importance of high-value marine tourism.
Superyacht sector reaches new heights
The luxury superyacht market continues to drive growth, with Fiji welcoming 62 superyachts during 2025 – the highest number since 2019.
Average stays increased significantly from 56 days in 2024 to 160 days in 2025, while visitor spending in the superyacht sector reached a record FJ$18.75 million (approximately A$11.9 million).
Tourism Fiji said recent regulatory reforms have also transformed the charter sector, with verified charter revenue increasing more than eleven-fold since 2023.
The industry is expected to contribute more than FJ$65 million annually by the end of 2026, supported by the construction of a new 115-metre mega-berth at Port Denarau Marina and continued demand from international yacht owners.
Luxury charter fleet expands
Visitors will have even more ways to explore Fiji’s islands in 2026 as several premium charter operators expand their offerings.
Luxury vessels including Mischief, MY The Clubhouse, Octopus, Northern Escape, De Lisle III and the 40-metre superyacht IMPULSIVE will operate in Fiji during the 2026 season, offering bespoke private charter experiences.
Boutique operators such as Big Blue Fiji, Grand Bleu and Quixotic Charters are also increasing access to private island-hopping adventures across the archipelago.
Cruise experiences continue to grow
Fiji is also strengthening its cruise tourism offering, with small-ship operator Yasawa Princess continuing to showcase remote islands and secluded anchorages.
Captain Cook Cruises Fiji and South Sea Cruises are expanding their day cruises and island-hopping experiences, while South Sea Cruises Group will introduce its new passenger ferry Jaguar from August 2026.
The purpose-built vessel will provide faster, more comfortable and more sustainable access to the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands, joining the recently launched Yasawa Flyer III as part of the company’s investment in Fiji’s marine tourism infrastructure.
