Swan Hellenic has unveiled its 2026–2028 Antarctic expedition cruise seasons, reporting strong forward bookings and sustained growth as demand for immersive polar travel continues to accelerate.
The boutique expedition line said its 2026–2027 season is already 65 per cent sold, following a record 2025–2026 season that delivered 53 per cent growth in guest numbers and a 66 per cent increase in revenue year-on-year.
Strong demand drives expanded Antarctic deployment
Across the two new seasons, Swan Hellenic will operate a combined 67 departures, with all three of its ice-class ships – SH Minerva, SH Vega and SH Diana – deployed in Antarctica.
The 2026–2027 season will feature 33 voyages, while 34 sailings are planned for 2027–2028, including a mix of nine to 18-day itineraries and longer grand voyages.
The program includes semi-circumnavigation sailings and extended routes linking destinations such as Ushuaia, Cape Town, Montevideo and Dunedin, reflecting growing demand for longer, more complex expedition itineraries.
Chief executive Andrea Zito said the forward bookings highlight continued appetite for cultural expedition cruising.
“We are thrilled with the outstanding results achieved this season and the positive trend for the year ahead,” he said.
Boutique capacity and immersive experiences key selling point
Swan Hellenic’s ships carry between 152 and 192 guests, positioning the brand within the small-ship expedition segment that continues to gain traction with high-yield travellers.
The line said its product focus remains on expert-led exploration, with high staff-to-guest ratios and multiple daily landings supported by zodiac operations, kayaking and guided excursions.
For the trade, the limited capacity and strong early bookings point to tightening availability in the Antarctic market, particularly across peak travel windows.
Awards and performance reinforce market positioning
The cruise line’s latest expansion follows a series of industry accolades, including Cruise Critic’s 2025 awards for Best Expedition – Antarctica and Best Value Expedition Cruise Line.
Swan Hellenic expects to carry more than 11,000 guests across the two seasons, reinforcing its growth trajectory in a sector increasingly defined by experiential travel and premium pricing.
