Holland America Line has opened bookings for its 2028 Alaska season, featuring cruises from seven to 18 days aboard six ships, including the Alaska debut of the reimagined Oosterdam following its Holland America Evolution transformation.
Oosterdam debuts as line’s largest fleet investment
The 2028 season sails aboard Oosterdam, Noordam, Eurodam, Koningsdam, Westerdam and Zaandam, operating roundtrip from Seattle and Vancouver, between Vancouver and Whittier, and on a new voyage from San Diego to Vancouver. Oosterdam becomes the first ship in Alaska to feature Holland America Evolution, the line’s largest fleet investment in its 153-year history, adding purpose-built Solo Verandah staterooms, new Bridgeview Suites with panoramic forward-facing views, and the Grand Dutch Café.
Oosterdam will also serve as the primary ship for Holland America’s Alaska Cruisetours, allowing guests to pair a cruise with overland exploration into Denali and the Yukon; 2028 Cruisetour details will be announced later, though 2027 Cruisetours are bookable now.
New itineraries add rare routes and scenic cruising
Highlights include the new 11-day California to Alaska: Shores, Fjords & Glaciers voyage aboard Zaandam, sailing San Diego to Vancouver from 29 April 2028, covering Glacier Bay National Park, Juneau, Ketchikan, Wrangell, Klawock and Prince Rupert. Select Great Alaska Explorer and Great Bear Rainforest voyages will include scenic cruising through Nootka Sound for the first time in the line’s history, a remote Vancouver Island waterway rarely featured on ocean cruise itineraries.
Other 2028 departures include the 14-day Great Alaska Explorer aboard Noordam from Seattle, the 18-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer aboard Zaandam from Vancouver, and a new 16-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer aboard Oosterdam from Vancouver. Seven-day Glacier Discovery, Alaska Inside Passage and Alaska Explorer itineraries run with dozens of departures across the season.
Paul Grigsby, Holland America’s vice president of revenue planning and deployment, said the season combines expected Alaska highlights with newer, less-travelled experiences. “Our 2028 season reflects that approach, pairing the Alaska highlights guests expect with a collection of distinctive experiences, from rare itineraries and lesser-traveled waterways to new ways of enjoying the journey on board,” Grigsby said.
