Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has opened bookings for its 2028 season, releasing more than 450 voyages across 20 ships and almost 150 destinations in 51 countries.
The program will operate from 25 homeports and feature itineraries ranging from three to 14 days across Europe, Alaska, the South Pacific, Caribbean, Bahamas and Bermuda.
Destination immersion is a major focus, with port calls accounting for almost 80 per cent of voyage days. NCL says the average port stay will exceed 10 hours, while the season includes 175 overnight stays and late departures across 53 destinations.
“It’s never too early to start planning your next holiday,” said Ben Angell, Managing Director Asia-Pacific of Norwegian Cruise Line.
“With 2028 voyages now on sale, guests can take advantage of a greater selection of destination-rich itineraries with 80 per cent of voyages spent in port, more choice of preferred staterooms and exceptional value.”
Norwegian Jewel expands European program
Norwegian Jewel will make its debut in Morocco during a 12-day Canary Islands roundtrip sailing from Barcelona, calling at Casablanca and Agadir.
The ship will also make inaugural visits to Arrecife in Lanzarote and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Elsewhere in Europe, Norwegian Jewel will offer itineraries along the Atlantic coasts of Spain, France and Portugal, as well as Baltic voyages between London, Copenhagen and Helsinki.
Norwegian Getaway will operate 10- and 11-day Northern Europe cruises between London and Reykjavík during the midnight sun season, including NCL’s first call at Vik, Norway.
Mediterranean program adds new ports
Norwegian Dawn will make inaugural calls at Zadar in Croatia and Cagliari in Sardinia during a series of 10- and 11-day Mediterranean itineraries.
Norwegian Viva will continue destination-rich voyages between Rome, Venice, Barcelona and Istanbul, including overnight stays in Istanbul and late departures from Santorini, Mykonos and Livorno.
Norwegian Pearl will return with seven-day Greek Isles itineraries, while Norwegian Epic will sail nine- to 12-day voyages roundtrip from Rome.
Norwegian Star will again explore the British Isles and Northern Europe, including Belfast, Newhaven and Invergordon.
Norwegian Spirit returns to the South Pacific
For Australian travellers, Norwegian Spirit will continue its South Pacific program between April and October 2028.
The ship will homeport in Sydney, Lautoka, Papeete and Honolulu, operating 11- to 13-day voyages connecting New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa, the Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Hawai’i.
Destinations will include Bora Bora, Moorea, Raiatea, Rarotonga, Aitutaki and Apia.
Four ships head to Alaska
NCL’s 2028 Alaska season will run from April to October with Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Jade.
Norwegian Encore, Bliss and Joy will operate seven-day roundtrip cruises from Seattle, with departures available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Norwegian Joy will also offer longer nine- to 11-day itineraries, while Norwegian Jade will sail seven-day cruises between Vancouver and Whittier with scenic cruising through Glacier Bay or past Hubbard Glacier.
Cruisetour options will allow guests to extend their holidays inland to destinations including Denali National Park and the Alaska Railroad.
Great Stirrup Cay plays bigger role
NCL’s private Bahamian island Great Stirrup Cay will feature prominently in the 2028 program following its latest expansion.
The destination’s Great Tides Waterpark includes 19 waterslides, family water-play areas and the adults-only Vibe Shore Club.
Norwegian Aqua will operate its first full summer season of three- and four-night Bahamas cruises from Miami, combining Great Stirrup Cay with onboard attractions including the Aqua Slidecoaster.
Newer ships headline Caribbean season
Norwegian Aura will sail seven-day Eastern Caribbean voyages roundtrip from Miami, visiting Puerto Plata, St Thomas, Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay.
Norwegian Prima will return to Galveston for seven-day Western Caribbean itineraries including Harvest Caye in Belize.
Norwegian Luna will operate a 10-day repositioning cruise from Miami to New York in May 2028, including inaugural calls for the ship at Aruba, Curaçao and San Juan.
Norwegian Escape will sail alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral.
Bermuda departures expand
Norwegian Gem will make its Philadelphia debut in April 2028, operating seven-day Bermuda cruises featuring overnight stays at Royal Naval Dockyard.
Norwegian Luna will offer five- and seven-day Bermuda voyages from New York, while Norwegian Breakaway will return to Boston with week-long itineraries combining Bermuda and Halifax.
Early booking offer available
NCL is promoting early bookings with savings of up to $2,500 on cruises booked by 27 August 2026.
