Princess Cruises launches ChatGPT app

Princess Cruises has launched an app inside ChatGPT that lets travellers search itineraries, compare ships and check pricing and availability using everyday language. The cruise line says it is the first global cruise line to launch a native app on the platform.

For the trade, the move signals growing competition for the early research stage of cruise planning, which is increasingly moving into AI platforms.

Real-time pricing and itinerary search

The app connects ChatGPT directly to information and services from the Princess Cruises website. Users install the app within ChatGPT and tag @princesscruises in a conversation to search more than 330 destinations across 17 ships.

Within a single conversation, users can:

  • search cruises by destination, date and length
  • compare itineraries and ships
  • explore ports, shore excursions, cruisetours, onboard experiences and packages
  • check current pricing and availability

Users can refine their results with follow-up questions. For example, someone searching for Alaska cruises could narrow the options to itineraries that visit Glacier Bay National Park or depart from Seattle.

AI shifts cruise discovery

Princess Cruises Vice President of Digital Commerce and Experience Neena Vicente said the launch responded to changes in how consumers research travel.

“There is a broader shift in travel discovery as consumers increasingly use generative AI not simply to find information, but to help evaluate choices and plan increasingly complex trips,” Vicente said.

Princess said the app is designed to keep travellers connected to its own booking ecosystem. The release does not say how travel advisors or agency bookings will be handled through the new channel.

Further AI platforms planned

The app is initially available only through ChatGPT. Princess said it plans to expand to other compatible AI platforms, subject to platform availability and technical requirements.

Princess Cruises is part of Carnival Corporation. Its ships include Sun Princess and Star Princess, which launched in October 2025.
