Guests aboard Scenic Eclipse had a front-row seat to the 12 August total solar eclipse, with the ship positioned off East Greenland as the Moon’s shadow swept across the Arctic and North Atlantic.
The eclipse’s path of totality crossed Greenland, Iceland and northern Spain. Scenic’s Arctic videographer captured the moment from the ship as it sailed through East Greenland during the 15-day Wonders of the High Arctic: Greenland & Iceland voyage, which departed Oslo and concludes in Reykjavik on 18 August.

The sighting adds to the itinerary’s appeal for agents selling polar expedition voyages, with Arctic sailings offering guests the chance to combine wildlife viewing, remote landscapes and, on this occasion, a rare celestial event.
