AmaWaterways has opened reservations for its 2028 season, adding two new ships and a new Rhône and Saône itinerary, and taking its global fleet to 38 vessels. Guests booking by 30 September 2026 can save up to AU$3,750 per stateroom, or NZ$4,000 per stateroom.
AmaMaria will debut on the Rhine River in 2028, built to the same design and layout as AmaFiora with 76 staterooms. AmaGaia will join AmaVida, AmaDouro and AmaSintra on Portugal’s Douro River, expanding the line’s presence there in response to growing demand.
The new ships follow AmaNubia, joining the fleet later in 2026, and AmaMaya, AmaFiora, AmaRudi and AmaCleo, all arriving in 2027.
New Burgundy and Provence itinerary added
Elegance of Burgundy & Provence is a new 10- and 11-night itinerary sailing the Rhône and Saône rivers during July and August 2028, with longer port stays built into the schedule.
Steve Richards, managing director Australia and New Zealand for AmaWaterways, said the 2028 season gave advisors new material to discuss with clients. “We’ve got new ships, new ways to explore destinations and more opportunities to extend a river cruise with time on land. It gives advisors some genuinely fresh reasons to talk to clients about Ama and start planning that next trip together,” Richards said.
Land packages expanded across Europe
AmaWaterways has added new pre- and post-cruise land packages in Krakow, Nuremberg, Basel, Luxembourg, Brussels, Lyon, Aix-en-Provence, Dijon and Porto. A three-night Krakow extension following the Best of the Danube itinerary includes a city tour, a visit to Schindler’s Factory and a full-day Auschwitz excursion. New two-night stays in Lyon, Aix-en-Provence and Dijon extend France itineraries, while a new Porto package supports the line’s growing Douro program.
