Azamara tees up global golf cruise partnership

Azamara Cruises has partnered with luxury golf travel specialist Premier Golf to launch a new global golf cruise program from 2028, combining destination-rich itineraries with access to some of the world’s most prestigious golf courses.

The exclusive partnership will debut with 23 sailings across Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas, with Asia forming a key focus of the inaugural program.

Golf takes centre stage in 2028

The new Azamara Golf Cruises have been designed for golf enthusiasts, PGA Professionals, golf clubs and affinity travel groups, pairing Azamara’s Destination Immersion® itineraries with curated golf experiences created by Premier Golf.

Guests will have the opportunity to play internationally renowned courses including New South Wales Golf Club, Seven Mile Beach Golf Course in Tasmania, Valderrama in Spain, Tokyo Golf Club, Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, Kingsbarns in Scotland, Old Head Golf Links in Ireland and Cabot Bordeaux in France.

Azamara Chief Executive Officer Dondra Ritzenthaler said the partnership brings together two experiences centred on exploration.

“Golf and travel have always shared a spirit of discovery, and this partnership brings those passions together in a way that perfectly complements Azamara’s approach to exploration,” Ritzenthaler said.

“Working with Premier Golf allows us to offer guests unique access to some of the world’s most celebrated golf destinations while enjoying the comfort of our intimate ships, longer stays in port and deeper connections to the places we visit.”

Experiences on and off the course

Each sailing will feature an onboard PGA Professional, golf-themed lectures, educational sessions, social gatherings and curated golf experiences ashore.

Guests will also be able to extend their holiday with optional pre- and post-cruise golf resort packages, providing additional opportunities to experience world-class courses beyond the cruise itinerary.

Premier Golf Chief Operating Officer Jason Vallee said Azamara’s extended port stays create a unique platform for golf travel.

“Their extended port times give our guests the opportunity to truly immerse themselves in the destinations we have spent decades curating, from the fairways of Western Europe to the courses of Asia and beyond,” Vallee said.

“Our program will take our guests to places no golf travel program has reached in quite this way before.”

New opportunities for travel advisors

The partnership also delivers additional earning opportunities for the travel trade, with advisors receiving 10 per cent commission from Premier Golf on the value of clients’ golf packages.

Azamara and Premier Golf will also launch a dedicated Premier Golf training module within Azamara World Academy, providing advisors with specialist product knowledge, sales resources and marketing tools to support golf cruise bookings.

Further details of the 2028 sailings and booking information will be released in the coming months.
