Luxury dinner cruise launches on Hoi An’s Thu Bon River

A new luxury river cruise experience is set to redefine evenings in Hoi An, with the launch of The Merchant River Cruise, a premium dining and cultural journey inspired by the ancient spice trade routes that once shaped the region.

Owned by Namia River Retreat, the new experience combines fine dining, cultural storytelling and river cruising aboard a modern luxury vessel, offering guests a curated 2.5-hour journey along the Thu Bon River.

Spice route storytelling comes to life

Departing from Namia River Retreat’s private pier, guests cruise past riverside villages, quiet islets and the UNESCO-listed Ancient Town of Hoi An while enjoying sunset cocktails and canapés on the vessel’s upper deck.

The experience centres on a five-course Spice Route-inspired menu showcasing locally sourced produce, seafood and sustainably sourced meats, while cultural narratives inspired by Hoi An’s historic trading heritage are woven throughout the journey.

As the vessel returns to shore, guests enjoy desserts inspired by the spice trade before receiving a curated artisanal gift as a keepsake from the experience.

Designed for mindful luxury

The Merchant River Cruise is available across four package levels, ranging from a classic dining experience through to premium options that include sustainable and sparkling wines. Vegetarian menus are also available.

Guests can extend their evening with an exclusive post-cruise happy hour at The Merchant Riverside Restaurant, receiving 20 per cent off beverages between 20:00 and 22:00.

Beyond the dinner cruise

In addition to its scheduled departures, The Merchant River Cruise will be available for private charters, catering for weddings, anniversaries, proposals, corporate events and special celebrations against the backdrop of Hoi An’s illuminated riverfront.

The experience forms an extension of Namia River Retreat, Hoi An’s first wellness-inclusive resort and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Virtuoso. Since opening in December 2024, the property has gained recognition for its wellness programs inspired by Vietnamese herbology and authentic cultural experiences.
