Virgin Voyages has officially launched its first Alaska season, introducing a suite of destination-inspired experiences aboard Brilliant Lady as the adults-only cruise line enters one of the world’s most popular cruise markets.
Sailing from Seattle, the new program combines Alaska-focused entertainment, cultural enrichment, regional cuisine and sustainability initiatives, offering travel advisors a new option for clients seeking a different style of Alaska cruise.
Alaska-inspired experiences onboard
The Alaska season introduces two new Happenings Cast roles created specifically for the region, including The Lumberjack, who shares stories and insights into Alaska’s timber heritage, and The Naturalist, who offers wildlife and ecology-focused experiences centred on glaciers, whales and the local ecosystem.
Virgin Voyages is also welcoming Cultural Heritage Guides from Alaska Native Voices on selected sailings, providing guests with opportunities to engage with Indigenous storytelling, contemporary culture and local perspectives.
Additional Alaska-themed programming includes cocktail workshops, art classes inspired by the region’s landscapes, destination briefings and interactive trivia experiences.
Regional flavours take centre stage
To celebrate its Alaska debut, Virgin Voyages has introduced a range of Alaska-inspired dishes across its onboard dining venues.
Seasonal menu additions feature local ingredients including Alaskan king crab, halibut and black cod, with dishes appearing in restaurants such as The Wake, Pink Agave, Extra Virgin, Rojo and The Dock.
The onboard beverage program has also been updated with locally inspired drinks and expanded hot beverage offerings designed for cooler Alaska conditions.
Sustainability remains a focus
Virgin Voyages said its Alaska deployment has been developed in partnership with local communities, ports and environmental organisations.
More than half of its Alaska shore excursions are operated by sustainable tourism providers, while the ship’s marine team has undergone specialist wildlife training to help minimise impacts on marine life. Brilliant Lady is also equipped with advanced wastewater treatment systems and shore power capability.
The cruise line will also implement voluntary speed reductions throughout the region to help protect whales and other marine species.
